It’s six o’clock in the morning. The convenience store that Ayu works in just opened. She barely slept last night so she’s feeling sleepy and tired now, but she still tries to squeeze out a smile for her customers. She always tries to be professional even if it’s just a part-time job at a convenience store. She is the best employee in this store, but her ambition is far beyond working as a cashier. Her dream is to become the greatest software engineer. She still remembers how her parents kept calling her ‘my little Bill Gates’ after she told them her dream for the first time. Since then, she has been trying hard to fulfill her dream. She was admitted by UNPAD and made it to the top in her class. “But that’s not enough.” she said to herself. This is her senior year in UNPAD. She knows she has to go to America for further study if she wants to become the most outstanding software engineer. But how could her family afford it? She has to do a part-time job to earn some money while studying. Apparently the salary of her part-time job can’t meet her need so she has to strive for the scholarship offered by universities in America. Actually she stayed up late to prepare for her exams last night. She is really exhausted by this but she has never thought of giving up. Deep in her heart, she believes the most beautiful dreams always worth the worst pain. She closed her eyes and took a breath. Suddenly she felt like she’s standing in her own office in Silicon Valley but not in a small convenience store in Jatinangor.
