Back To September : Song Lyric

180410130042 / A

Summary : A reply song of Taylor swift’s Back To December

I decided to make time to see you

To make sure how much that I miss you

I haven’t seen you quite a while

You still good, prettier than ever

We small talk, work and the weather

And you ask me “Mam, are you alright?”

Because the last time you saw me

You still go with your arrogant mind

I gave you roses but all you left them there to die

So there is you swallowing your pride

Standing in front of me

Saying you’re sorry for that night

And you’d go back to december all the time

It turns out, freedom ain’t nothing but loving you

Wishing that you realize what you did

When you were mine

So I’d go back to september turn around and wouldn’t love you

I’d go back to september all the time

These days I haven’t been sleeping

Staying up playing back myself leaving

When my birthday passed and you didn’t care

And I think about winter all the beautiful times

I watched you laughing with the another guy

Realized I loved you but you didn’t

And I remember september

When lovelorn just to begin

I gave you all my love and all you gave me was goodbye

So there is you swallowing your pride

Standing in front of me

Saying you’re sorry for that night

And you’d go back to december all the time

It turns out, freedom ain’t nothing but loving you

Wishing that you realize what you did

When you were mine

So I’d go back to september turn around and change my own mind

I’d go back to september all the time

Sometimes I miss you I wish you

Be here with me, Taylor

But I remember all the pain

That december night

On that time you broke your promises

Oh, I think that is wishful thinking

Of course that is mindless dreaming

Cause if we love again

I doubt you’d love me right

We’d go back in time and change it but we can’t

I know the chain is on my own, I won’t give in

Because the pain that you had made, my heart broken

So just forget me my lovin’, and understand

So there is you swallowing your pride

Standing in front of me

Saying you’re sorry for that night

And you’d go back to december

It turns out, freedom ain’t nothing but loving you

Wishing that you realize what you did

When you were mine

I’d go back to september turn around and wouldn’t love you

I’d go back to september turn around and change my own mind

I’d go back to september all the time

But this is me crying on the inside

Sitting in a cafe

Saying I’m sorry, that’s enough

And I’d go back to september

It turns out, freedom ain’t nothing but loving you

Wishing that you realize what you did

When you were mine

Would we go back to december turn around and make it alright?

Or we’d go back to september turn around and not to start it?

Hope we’d go back to the best time all the time

  1. First of all, I think this is quite amazing! I love this work. Since it has the real version of itself, it is kinda funny how you changed the lyrics. When I was listening to this song, I automatically compared it to the real lyrics, and I laughed… In a positive way. The point of view of this song has successfully changed, and the song has the ‘antonym’ meaning from the real one. What makes me a little bit disappointed is that you did not change the lyrics that much. Especially on the chorus, it sounds the same. I wish you had changed the lyrics more. But after all, everything is fine.

I like your idea about replying Taylor Swift’s song, perhaps you are inspired by the “Enchanted” Adam Young sings in reply of Swifts’ song with the same title. Unlike Young, you change almost the entire lyric that shows how the man in “Back to December” feels regarding his lover, which gives the readers a different perspective towards the original song. Nevertheless, just like Alifia said in the preceding comment, I expect that you don’t repeat the lyric much so that the narrator’s –your– feeling will be completely expressed. I know that a common, commercial song usually repeats its chorus, but, this is not a kind of song, methinks. Therefore, in terms of story’s triangulation, I think it will be better not to repeat the lyric for showing that plot-setting-characterization in more detail. Overall, despite of that, you did a good job! (141)

  3. This song makes me laugh because your idea is replying Swift’s song it’s brilliant. I think, you should give additional title, that is the male version of Taylor swift’s song to make it more attractive and I think the title should not be the same because I see the content of this song is telling a story to the events that you experienced in September. I agree with Syifa, you should not repeat the lyric. So It not only could be the song but also a story. I’m a bit confused of this part”Saying you’re sorry for that night” . Why does he have to apologize? because I think He really feel s hurt to Taylor. I think he should not apologize to Taylor. (125)
